Treetop Tees is local shop in the heart of Alaska's capitol city Juneau. All of our apparel is inspired by this incredible place we call home, and we wanted to create a design that spoke to all Alaskans, and lovers of the north!
Everyone in our communities plays a vital role in what makes AK so special, and that is highlighted by the Alaska state flag itself, which was designed by Benny Benson, a 13 year old orphan from Seward. Benny was a 7th grader who entered a design contest for 7th-12th graders from all over the territory (32 years before Alaska became a state in 1959). Benny described his design in this caption: "The blue field is for the Alaska sky and the forget-me-not, an Alaska Flower. The North Star is for the future state of Alaska, the most northerly of the union. The dipper is for the Great Bear symbolizing strength."
Our clothing that features the Big-Dipper and North Star is a tribute to Alaskan dreamers like Benny Benson, and to this incredible northern landscape that inspires us everyday.
